Jot down something u feel strongly about (love, bullying, life - anything that u really ponder about.. that u often think about or discuss/debate about..) just write ur thoughts, don't concentrate on getting out verses or lyrics.. just write like ur explaining those thoughts to someone.. or like ur writing an essay..  - THAT will give u ur content - which is also the most important thing in a song.

Once u have ur content, u can go about dissecting those thoughts that u jotted down. Picking out some key points and summarizing them, metaphorizing them and converting them into lyrics that rhyme..

Hope this works, all the best! Cheers!

Be repetitive and write whenever you're sad. Maybe even do the chords first.

1. Feel it
2. Concentrate it
3. Write it

There's a lot of free software that allows you to create your own music, and i mean your own instrumental tracks, maybe a loop of beats or a some piano chords will help you to start.
I 130% recommend FL STUDIO, because it's like the ABC of the music producton...
...and also, if you need professional help, i found some articles form artist like deadmau5, explaining some tips that actually helped him...

...and if you want another tip, from an amateur fanatic of creating music, just send me a note :)

Like my old signature said, don't let your dreams be dreams...

OMG I suffer from the same problem... not only I want to become an artist, I also want to spend my creative life writing songs and singing them. The situation is.... HOW TO WRITE THEM?!?!?!?!?!? I know, right? I wish I were as talented as Amy Lee

OML Amy Lee is a frikking genius.

And I just think that going with the flow when something pops into your head helps.

...same?
First, stop comparing yourself to others (Amy Lee) it's a waste of the person who you are today
...who said that the talent comes in just one shape?

If you really, really want to become a musician, then, you'll find a way to make it real...
...if not, you'll find an excuse...
Love it, feel it, make it real, and then, love it again!

Stay...determined!

Thank you :)
I often don't know where to start, what rhythms to use, and what tune I should innovate if I attempt to write a song, that's the thing.

Well I guess you should think about what your doing is going to be about, then the pacing of it. After that come up with a beat. Lastly, come up with lyrics that fit your beat and subject matter. That's how I would do it, but I never written any music before.
